There’s a couple of reasons why I don’t wear “gun” shirts out in public or have a “I don’t dial 9-1-1, I dial .357” sign by my door.
1. I don’t want to show my hole card until I absolutely need to. A sign that says “I have a gun in the house” is a sign that says “Wait until I leave, then break in and steal my guns.”
2. Signs like these are a prosecutor’s dream come true. Getting a conviction from a jury is a LOT easier if the defendant seems like an trigger-happy gun nut, and almost everything you say or do (including, I realize, blogging), can be used against you in a court of law. And a felony conviction means you lose your gun rights for good.
Keep the bumper stickers off your car and use the money for some extra range time. I little less empty bravado and a little tighter group is a good thing.
