Why Carry?

My folks used to live one-half mile away from here

Police shot a man after he allegedly lunged at an officer with a knife near Mill Avenue and University Drive on Thursday morning.

According to Tempe Police, someone at a nearby Starbucks saw a suspect with a knife or boxcutter harassing people around 8 a.m. and called 911.

Officers arrived and told the man to drop his weapon.

Police say the man ignored their commands and lunged at an officer.

The suspect was shot several times.

So much for that ol’ “I carry my gun when I think I might need” chestnut. This happened a mile away from Arizona State University on a popular, upscale intersection at 8 0’clock in the morning on a weekday.

Carry your guns, people. They’re a lighter burden than regret.
